LOY-001, the lifespan injection for large dogs

Why big dogs

Large and giant breeds die younger than small ones. Loyal's case is that the growth signal IGF-1, which big breeds keep making in large amounts after they finish growing, is part of the reason, and LOY-001 is meant to bring it down toward the levels seen in smaller dogs (Loyal).

The effectiveness acceptance on November 28, 2023 was the first time the FDA agreed a drug could be expected to extend a dog's lifespan. Nothing further has been announced for LOY-001 since. Loyal's brief for vets projects conditional approval for its two large dog drugs in 2027 (Loyal).

Which dogs it is for

Dogs aged 7 and over weighing at least 40 lb, and only dogs that have finished growing (Loyal). For a big dog that would rather have a pill, Loyal is also developing LOY-003.
