The dog longevity supplements on sale now

Chews with NMN, nicotinamide riboside or senolytics are sold for healthy aging. None is an FDA-approved drug, and none has shown a longer life in dogs.

Dog supplements need no FDA approval before they go on sale, so a "longevity" label tells you what a maker hopes, not what has been shown. The ones below are the best known in the US. We list what is in each and whether any dog study has been published; none has measured lifespan.

Why NAD+ and NMN

NAD+ is a molecule cells use to make energy, and its levels fall with age in people and animals. NMN and nicotinamide riboside are building blocks the body turns into it. Studies in mice and early studies in people look at whether topping it up helps; in dogs, the work so far is about behavior and blood levels, not years of life.

How they compare with the drugs

LOY-002 has had its effectiveness case and safety package accepted by the FDA and is in a 1,300-dog trial. No supplement has been through anything like that. If you are thinking about one, take the label to your vet.

Whether your dog should take any of these is a question for your vet, who knows its health.
